Suspicious package at Cedarville University contained chocolates

So today in small town Cedarville, OH, the unepexpected happened! A box that could possible contain a bomb was found. As the headline says, it wasn’t much more than a misunderstanding. I assumed it was a prank. Instead, it ended up being some harmless box full of chocolates from a game. Needless to say, our Campus Safety got bored giving out parking tickets and needed to over-react about something. According to the story, the investigation was turned over to local authorities. I really hope there isn’t any prosecution. That would be ridiculous in every sense of the word.

Here’s the official CU email:

Late this afternoon a staff member reported finding a suspicious package on campus. Campus Safety notified local law enforcement officials, who conducted an initial investigation then removed the package to a remote location near the golf driving range. According to standard safety procedures, a technical unit and hazardous materials squad have now come to campus to examine the contents of the package and remove it appropriately. This has been done strictly as a precautionary measure.   We are anticipating local media coverage of this event during the evening news broadcasts.   Please be assured that our Campus Safety team has taken every safety precaution in this situation. All regularly scheduled activities on campus are continuing.
